Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH is an industry leading company focused on the production of specialty steel long products.

At the production sites in Witten, Siegen, Krefeld, Hagen and Hattingen DEW employs 4,200 people and melts nearly one million tonnes of specialty steel.  Furthermore, the company provides expertise in the field of heat treatment with locations in Lüdenscheid and Stuttgart.

 

Products

The extensive product offering ranges from small diameter drawn wire to forgings up to 900 mm diameter and includes engineering steels, tool steels and stainless steels. Furthermore, Deutsche Edelstahlwerke produces Ferro-Titanit®, a powder metallurgical titanium carbide material that can be further heat treated.  The materials produced by DEW are used in the automotive, aerospace, power generation, oil & gas and tooling industries.  

History and Future

The specialty steel company was founded in January 2007 by the merger of Edelstahl Witten-Krefeld GmbH and Edelstahlwerke Südwestfalen GmbH.  As a result of this merger of two highly competent 150 year old steel production companies with the broadest range of products available, DEW offers its global customer base expanded business opportunities today and in the future.  Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH is part of SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Group, the world’s largest manufacturer, processor and distributor of special steel long products. The Group employs more than 11,000 worldwide and generates global sales of nearly 4 billion euros.
